Sedgwick County Zoo

Navigate along a twisting path, more than a quarter-mile deep into the wilds of Australia and South America. Elk River Wind Project
This 150-megawatt wind energy production site spans 7,907 acres, although the actual turbine footprint only occupies about two percent of the land. The project has created over 200 jobs since it went into operation in December 2005.

The estimated 550,000 megawatt hours of energy annually purchased from the project creates enough energy to meet the needs of about 42,000 homes each year in South West Missouri, SouthEast Kansas, NorthEast Oklahoma, and NorthWest Arkansas.

Coutts Memorial Museum of Art

Located in El Dorado, KS, just 28 miles NW of Beaumont, this 1917 bank building is home to an impressive Western Art collection, including 22 Frederic Remington bronzes and the largest Makk collection in the United States.

C.N. James Trading Post

Located in Augusta, KS, just 26 miles W of Beaumont, this cabin is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of only two, in the state of Kansas, on it’s original site. Built in 1868, the cabin has been used as a school house, boarding house, residence and woodworking shop.

Augusta Historic Theatre

Originally opened in 1935, the Augusta Historic Theatre was the first in the world to use neon illumination throughout the interior. The 633-seat auditorium with its Egyptian appearance was a hallmark of movie palaces built in American between the 1920′s and 1930′s. Now showing movies and putting on theatre productions, this historic theatre is definetly worth a trip.
